In 1998, we were faced with her arthritis diagnosis and the only treatment options available at the time were nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Whilst NSAIDs can be effective in short term alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis, they have a range of potential side effects associated with chronic use, which can impact kidney and gastrointestinal function. Given that Sasha was only 11 years old, we were concerned about the long-term use of NSAIDs to manage her arthritis.
We saw the moment as an opportunity to not only support Sasha, but also countless treasured pets with joint health concerns and embarked on a search for a safe natural alternative.
