Joint swelling, pain on joint flexion or subtle changes to the horse’s action – such as a wider limb stance, changing of lead legs, ‘hanging,’ or a reluctance to work – are early signs of arthritis.
Recognising them quickly, changing training programs and introducing 4CYTE treatment can stop the formation or progression of the disease. More permanent changes can occur if these signs are ignored, resulting in radiographic changes of osteoarthritis and lameness. If you recognise any of these symptoms, ask your veterinarian for an examination.
